Chinese smart devices firm Xiaomi's India head Muralikrishnan B has resigned from the company to pursue his interest in academic research.

Muralikrishnan B, President of Xiaomi India, has stepped down as the company seeks to reclaim its top position in India’s smartphone market, according to Moneycontrol.

His departure coincides with heightened scrutiny from government authorities over alleged violations related to foreign exchange.

Xiaomi's India President Muralikrishnan B on Tuesday resigned from his position to pursue a doctorate at the Indian School of Business. However, in a statement shared with Times Now Tech, the Chinese smartphone maker says that Murali will continue to support Xiaomi India as an independent Strategic Advisor.
