Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, known as the `Bihar Kokila`, passed away on Tuesday night at AIIMS Delhi due to septicaemia.

The legendary folk singer Sharda Sinha was battling with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, which was diagnosed in 2018. Her condition deteriorated on Monday (November 4), after which she was placed on a ventilator.

Sinha, who pioneered and popularised the rich folk traditions of Bihar beyond its borders, was undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi for multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Sharda Sinha, celebrated for her soulful Chhath songs, passed away on Tuesday, after battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer for several years. She was 72. The Padma Bhushan awardee had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi after being admitted on October 27.
