China will revisit its ban on marine imports from Japan and work towards resuming imports following an expansion of regulatory monitoring of radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear plant, Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Friday.

According to multiple government officials from Japan and China, both governments are making final adjustments toward the resumption of imports of Japanese seafood from China in light of this expansion. Since Japan began releasing treated water to the sea last August, China has completely suspended imports of Japanese seafood.
