Jofra Archer will play his first ODI for 18 months as England are still carefully managing his return after an injury-plagued last few years, and are easing him towards a Test return with half an eye on next winter’s trip to Australia.

England vs Australia in the 1st ODI at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Thursday is the first game in a five-match ODI series which concludes on September 29. It follows their three-match T20 series, which was drawn 1-1 after the third game was washed out.
